We remember.... - See below

The past year have had both it´s ups and downs.
I am really looking forward to the future and next year with great expectations with several dogs on their way into the eliteclass and really young rising stars who I think will proove themselves during next year.
I can not strongly enough point out how extremely proud I am of my dear, sweet puppybuyers! Without you - No kennel!J

Last years more or less extreme success with not less than 11x 1st prizes at official tests with only 3 litters with the age to compete, would ofcourse be hard to beat BUT we had several new rising stars to hope for and I think we did more than well. We also have lots of reasons to look forward to 2009....

FIELD TRIAL - A-test Eliteclass
FinJCh Gilliam´s Gold Mach III - Veijo´s wonderful Ruka started off the year with a very good prize in eliteclass and Veijo was happy with his work. Ruka was in 2007 first Flatcoat ever in Finland to take a 1st prize in eliteclass at field trial the tests we call A-tests . Owner: Veijo Sarinko, Finland
COLD GAME TEST - B-test Beginnersclass
Gilliam´s Gold Yes Please - was the first in her litter to try her luck at an official test. She took her qualificationtest even before she turned 1 year and at her first start at 1,5 years of age Trassa took a 1st prize with her debutant owner, Åsa. According to the judge´s secretary they were very close to the honory award.... Later on in the fall they also followed up with a 3rd prize. What debutants!!!! Gilliam´s Gold the One and Only - Wella spent 2 weeks in my training on Klädesholmen and with very short notice we went to a "test-test" that resulted in a 2nd prize. One week later - At the test we had first set out to start at, we took a 1st prize VERY close to getting the honory award but we got the award for "Best free search". What a dog! COLD GAME TEST - B-test Openclass
SVCh Gilliam´s Gold Active Fit - was very unlucky with the drawing during the year and was only on the startlist two times. He followed up his first-prize-suite from last year and chocked us all by taking a 1st prize at his and his handler´s first Opentest ever. Ingela and her lovely Danne has showed us all that nothing is impossible and this couple also followed up with a 3rd prize. Owner: Ingela Sjöberg
Gilliam´s Gold Black Addiction - Yessie who was diagnosed with both erlichia and borrlia during the spring did some even jobs that resulted in a couple of 2nd prizes. One time with "Best-Flat-award" and runner up.. Owner: Karin Friberg

COLD GAME TEST - B-test Eliteclass
FinJCh Gilliam´s Gold Mach III - The lovely Ruka and Veijo continued their carreer before the big C put an end to it. Even though he had been more or less deaf during the last year he was, only a couple of days before he passed away, once again awarded "Best-Dog-of Test". Huntingtest
SUCh SJCh VS Knut - Knut can after this year´s season and with 1x winter (1st prize roedeer)- and 2x autumntests(1+2 & 1+1 roedeer) put SJCh to his name and earlier title. What a season! NEW CHAMPION! Owner: Lars Friberg

CHAMPIONSHIPS
We have been very spoilt with all placings at every FCR-Championship in Finland since 2001 and now also in Sweden for a couple of years in a row. This year our debutants Trassa and Åsa were placed no 4 at the FCR-Championship in Norway - and disregarding the show (as it is a dualpurpose competition) they were actually runner up at the WT.

Youngsterclass
Gilliam´s Gold Yes Please Trassa was youngest competing dog and was runner up youngsterdog at the WT with 78/100 points. Together with the show where she got a 1st prize in quality but no honory- or certificatequalityaward, she ended up no 4 youngster, in this dualcompetition. A strong debut for the 2 young girls! FCR-Championship in Sweden - Öster Malma

Gilliam´s Gold Yes Please 65points and placed no 17 out of 47. Their points were: 19-20-6-20 Another good day in the field for the two young ladies. Owner: Sara Magnevik-Jarvoll, kennel Palitos Handler: Åsa Magnevik, Norge
Openclass
Gilliam´s Gold Black Addiction - Yessie did a fine job and no actual mistakes. She was unlucky once and her handler also comitted a mistake that costed a few points, but overall a good job. 71 points and placed 37 out of 77. Owner: Karin Friberg
SVCh Gilliam´s Gold Active Fit - Young Danne did a fine debut in the Openclass and got 67 points even though he got 0 points at one station. 44 out of 77 . Owner: Ingela Sjöberg

Göran and Norton were the ones at official bloodtracks this year....

SVCh Gilliam´s Gold Nothing but the Best - Norton and owner/handler Göran tracked themselves to the first title SVCh in the least amount of starts. Passed first class in the spring and then this autumn 3x 1st prize and one of them sooo close to a special honory-award....

KENNELCHAMPIONSHIP
Johnny Henriksen from Denmark was the instructor this year and we had a very good trainingday with him all Saturday.
We all tried to keep the spirit up when Yxi got very sick and had to go see the vet in Gothenburg.
When Ola and Scott came back the next day they did not only make it to the finals but did a GREAT job and went like on rails with all of the tricky blinds and markings. Runner up and the only one to come somewhat close to their job was young Danne and Ingela. Scott and Ola were thus a division higher this day and took back the title "Gilliamchampion". The youngsters took turn to shine during the day but came the finals and Trassa put in an unknown gear - I think it´s called overdrive ;-) and was awarded "Youngsterchampion".

MISC.
Besides the Kennelchampionship and lots of trainings every week spring and autumn and puppydates etc,
we had the traditional Springtrainingdays with some lovely days of training to get us started for the year.
Thanks all of you who showed up! The eveningactivity this year was a seminar with Annika Petrén. Ingela arranged toghether with tracking-judge Björn Johansson, a bloodtracking-day in Ljungås - thank you Ingela!

Åsa och Trassa - Gilliam´s Gold Yes Please - also participated in the Oslo-team as youngsterdog-representative at the Norvegian Retriever Team Championship The team was placed no 7 out of 18 teams and Åsa was happy with Trassas performance.

Our lovely WILLIAM had great plans for 2008. He was asked to sire pups at Conovers and Straight Flush kennels with 2 adorable ladies. We were so looking forward to ev. William-pups. First bitch got no pups and at the time of the second mating William was very ill and had to end his days 12 years of age. I can still se glanzes of him in the offsprings of his brother.... If there is a dog´s heaven I´m sure William is retrieving all day long. Sleep well you wonderful huntingcompanion and all through nice dog.

During the past year 3 syblings from the Gillette-litter went to see mum and dad over the rainbowbridge.

AnnaLena´s TUVA was first over the bridge and she will be rememberd for the great obediencedog that signed up for the competition before she was trained but even so won the competition and often on very hight points. All of her foodthieving-skills is also something we will remenber her for - now with a smile on our faces.

During the Kennelchampionship-weekend YXI got really sick and it all ended up with the worst scenario. Yxi had so much more to give and 2007 was the year when it all went Fredrik´s and Yxi´s way in the field. Only 1st prizes - 2x 1st prizes in Openclass and 1st prize in Eliteclass - at their 3 starts. They were ready to take on the hunt for the SJCh.... Our little minidog but soooo beautiful. As she was my dog for 1,5 years before moving to Fredrik, she will always have a big place in my heart.

Not long after the chocking news about Yxi I got a phonecall from Veijo sounding very low, telling me about RUKA.
The lump was found when trimming him for a show and it all went very fast. One week best-dog-of-test-award in eliteclass and next week - gone. Ruka was once again to be qualified for the Retrieverchampionship in Finland and 2007 he was the first flatcoat ever in Finland to be awarded a 1st prize in Eliteclass at a field trial - A-test. Ruka and Veijo won most they entered toghether and the only goal left for Veijo was to win the Retrieverchampionship. What a carreer!!!
I will remember you for so many things but among other things when you put on the yellow leader-shirt after winning your first FCR-Championship in Finland or the year we all were in the semi-finals toghether or when I first got the results that both Winner and no 3 in the finals was from my first litter.

I hope and strongly believe that you are now all retrieving all you can, with your untireable mum in dog´s heaven. I do want to know which one of you will give up first....?

After having read all of the above I now dry my tears
from both sorrow and happiness and set sails for new goals and challenges in 2009....
